Answers for legal teams

AI validation and legal nurse consulting—clearly defined.

These answers explain where an LNC validation layer fits, how the review levels differ, and what counsel should provide before protected records are transferred.

Common questions

Start with the decision your team needs to make.

What is AI medical record validation?

AI medical record validation is an independent clinical review of an AI-generated summary, chronology, or findings set against the source medical record. The LNC reviewer identifies which statements are supported, which require qualification or correction, and—when omission review is selected—what clinically significant information may not have been adequately surfaced.

Does Sierra Pacific replace the law firm’s AI platform?

No. The legal AI platform remains part of the firm’s workflow. Sierra Pacific reviews the work it produced and adds a separate clinical quality-control layer rather than requiring the firm to abandon its technology or repeat the entire process.

What is the difference between verification and omission review?

Verification checks whether findings already reported by AI are supported by the record. Omission review adds an independent, clinically focused search for significant information related to the defined case question that the AI output did not adequately include.

Can Sierra Pacific validate an AI-generated medical chronology?

Yes. Chronology validation can check dates, event descriptions, clinical relationships, medication timing, escalation, response, and whether important events were omitted or represented without enough context.

How much does AI medical record validation cost?

AI Verification Review starts at $450 for up to 1,500 pages. AI Validation plus Omission Review starts at $750 for up to 1,500 pages. Comprehensive Clinical Validation starts at $1,500 for up to 1,500 pages and includes Sierra Pacific’s AI-assisted analysis of the raw record followed by LNC clinical validation. Additional-page pricing and standard turnaround vary by review level.

How long does AI medical record validation take?

AI Verification Review and AI Validation + Omission Review have a standard turnaround range of 7–10 business days. Comprehensive Clinical Validation has a standard range of 14–20 business days. Standard turnaround ranges apply to assignments within the 1,500-page base scope. Turnaround begins once the engagement is accepted and all required records are received. Business days exclude weekends and holidays. Larger, unusually complex, or expedited matters receive a case-specific schedule based on record volume, clinical scope, and current availability, confirmed before acceptance.

Can a focused issue be priced by clinical scope instead of total page count?

Yes. A narrow question involving a defined time period or record subset may be scoped differently from a full-admission or full-record review. Sierra Pacific confirms the clinical boundary, source material, deliverable, fee, and turnaround before review begins.

Can additional deliverables be added later?

Yes. Base pricing includes one primary deliverable. A narrative summary, medication analysis, focused issue review, hospitalization summary, imaging summary, provider comparison, or key-events timeline may be added without repeating the full record-review fee. When requested within six months, the standard add-on rate generally applies if the underlying record and clinical question have not materially changed.

Does an AI Validation Report replace a medical expert?

No. It can help counsel understand the clinical record, assess the support for AI-generated findings, and focus additional investigation. Specialty opinions, causation testimony, and standard-of-care opinions may still require an appropriately qualified expert.

Does Sierra Pacific work with plaintiff and defense firms?

Yes. The review is independent and source-based. The assignment is defined around the legal team’s question, the available record, and the requested work product rather than a predetermined case position.

Should medical records be sent with the first inquiry?

No. Begin with non-identifying matter information, the type of AI output, approximate page count, deadline, and general clinical question. A protected transfer workflow is established after scope and engagement are confirmed.

What traditional legal nurse consulting services are available?

Sierra Pacific provides medical record review, medical chronologies, clinical case analysis, and DME or IME nurse attendance. Traditional review can begin directly from the record, while AI validation begins with work a legal AI platform has already produced.
